About

Our story began in 2012 whilst visiting local garden centres searching for an elegant Dovecote. With disappointment, there wasn’t a company that handcrafted bespoke, hand-painted Dovecotes with elaborate finishing touches. It was from there that Dominic and Nigel decided to handcraft one for themselves; from there, the early stages of Robinson Garden began.

Our Service

Truly Bespoke Garden Products are at the heart of Robinson Garden’s heritage and future vision. In our Workshop, the in-house carpenter represents the best of the carpentry profession, translating it into a personal service for our clients. A Bespoke item is built through a deep collaboration between the client and master carpenter, resulting in a unique final product created for that individual. Every decision made with intricate thought, detail, and consideration ensures a product of unparalleled quality.

The Craft Behind Robinson Garden

Every Robinson Garden product is handcrafted with the same attention to detail. We go to great lengths in all we do. Never hurried, we take time and care in everything. Our carpenters make each Robinson Garden product by hand in our Workshop in the heart of rural Lincolnshire, ensuring that the finest detail is considered. We still make our products the time-honoured way. Our reclaimed Slate comes from North Wales, and we apply Farrow & Ball paint to all our products.

Bespoke Made to Order

Due to the nature of the bespoke wooden garden products that we handcraft, we do not offer an off-the-shelf service but provide high-quality, made-to-order items.

Offering Subdued Innovation

Our carpenters have decades of expertise, and it is this expertise that we continue to demonstrate in all of our products. The quality of the Craftsmanship in production and design has allowed us to appreciate innovative ideas that we apply to our bespoke garden product range. Old-fashioned pride in our Workmanship is a quality shared by all Carpenters. Every piece requires various traditional skills that combine to make a superb piece that will endure its classic design, function, and exceptional quality.

Our Workshop

Our Workshop is in the heart of rural Lincolnshire, where all of our Bespoke Garden Products are handcrafted from start to finish. Timber

Our highly skilled carpenters individually handpick our Wood at our local timber merchant. By inspecting each piece of wood, we can ensure quality control of our whole manufacturing process from start to finish.

Treated, Primed and Undercoated

We treat all of our Timber for wood knots to reduce bleeding in the Wood that can discolour the paint over time. Once this is complete, we then apply an exterior primer undercoat to provide a base layer and surface for the paint to adhere to.

FSC certified Wood

Wood is the most crucial part of our products and therefore ensure all the Wood we use is sourced sustainably. We only purchase Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified Timber.

The Wood we use

We use a wide range of natural Timber from softwood to hardwood including, slow-grown pine, oak, Canadian Western Red Cedar, Mahogany, Beech and much more, depending on our client’s requirements. All of our timber is sustainably sourced and FSC certified.

We only use Natural Timber

We ONLY use natural Timber, and we don’t use Accoya timber. Accoya timber undergoes an extensive modification from a natural resource to a human-modified resource by modifying the chemicals in the natural Wood. This unnatural process limits the use of water-based paint instead of requiring additional oil-based products and paints that are unnecessary and not friendly to the environment.

Slate

All of our slated products are handcrafted using reclaimed Welsh Slate. From its source in North Wales, the Welsh Slate has been used and crafted by many generations of people from all walks of life since early Roman times.

Sustainably Eco friendly

Using reclaimed Welsh Slate gives Slate a new lease of life and prevents such a beautiful natural resource from going into landfills. The aged Slate truly complements our bespoke garden products allowing them to be an attractive centrepiece for your garden.

Why Welsh Slate?

Welsh Slate is regarded as the finest natural Slate globally due to its density, benefiting from many highly beneficial properties that make it an excellent building material. It is the most durable Slate with a productive life of 100 years. It is waterproof and unaffected by normal extremes of temperature, highly resistant to acids, alkalis and other chemicals, and it is colour-fast and non-fading, even in UV light.

Hand-painted

All of our products are individually hand-painted by our dedicated team in our Lincolnshire workshop. We ensure that each piece of Timber is wood knot treated, applied with an undercoat followed by a minimum of three coats of Farrow & Ball exterior eggshell paint.

Why Farrow & Ball?

All Farrow & Ball paint is water-based, making them eco-friendly and with low odour as well as this; Farrow & Ball paint is Pet and Child safe, easy to clean, free from animal testing and doesn’t contain animal-derived products.

Farrow & Ball Colours

We have chosen a range of Farrow & Ball colours that are the most popular; please visit our product pages for our range of colours. Alternatively, if you would like a different colour to the ones shown, don’t hesitate to contact us for more details.
